About This Video

In this video I jump into DaVinci Resolve and show you how I make a clean 3D infinite zoom tunnel effect using a simple eye shot. The whole idea is super easy: I take a close-up of my eyes, cut right after the first blink, duplicate the clip on top, and turn that top layer into a freeze frame. From there I convert it into a Fusion clip so we can build the tunnel in 3D space. Inside Fusion, I mask the pupil with an Ellipse (invert it and add a bit of soft edge), then use Image Plane 3D to push the 2D frame into 3D. After that, I stack the tunnel with Duplicate 3D (I use 10 copies) and merge everything with Merge 3D, then Render 3D back out to MediaOut. The “movement” comes from keyframing the Camera 3D on the Z axis—start frame gets a keyframe, last frame I push until the checkerboard fills the frame, and I fine-tune X offset if it’s not centered. Finally, I enable motion blur in Render 3D, drop my next travel shot (like a drone clip) underneath, add a small fade, and with sound design plus a cool grade, it turns into a really slick travel transition.
