About This Video

What’s going on, guys—today I’m in Huntington Beach, California with the GoPro Max 2, and I wanted to see what it’s actually like to vlog with a 360 camera in the real world. I walk around Surf City, grab coffee at Sir Coffee, and then I basically sprint to the ocean to catch sunset—because if you’re going to test a camera, you might as well throw it into high-contrast scenes, movement, and changing light. Along the way, I’m paying attention to stabilization (especially while walking/running) and how usable the footage feels for YouTube when you’re reframing. The big takeaway: I’ve been loving the Max 2 in daylight, and GoPro Labs is a huge part of that for me. Being able to jump into Labs, bump the bitrate, and mess with more “pro” controls makes it feel like a much more serious vlogging tool. Once it gets into nighttime, I’m honest about expectations—GoPro isn’t known for incredible low light, and I’m mostly using this camera during the day anyway. I also talk about how 360 is changing the way I think about creating videos, and I wrap the trip with a surprise surf competition where I switch gears and shoot surfers on my Canon R8 with a 100mm macro.
