The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 introduces a Med-Tele camera mode in their latest firmware updat, but is it really worth the hype? In this video, I break down the pros and cons of this new feature and why it might not live up to expectations. ✅ Pros: ✔️ Great for interviews – Provides a natural focal length for talking head shots. ✔️ Perfect for travel – Compact and ideal for capturing cinematic footage on the go. ✔️ Better compression – Enhances background separation for a professional look. ❌ Cons: ❌ No D-Log – Limited color grading flexibility. ❌ No Active Track – Makes it harder to track moving subjects. ❌ Poor low-light performance – Struggles in darker environments. Despite its strengths, the Med-Tele feature comes with some drawbacks. 📌 Subscribe for more camera reviews, vlogs, and filmmaking tips! 🔔 Turn on notifications so you don’t miss out! 0:00 What is this new feature? 0:49 First reaction 1:28 How to Turn on the Med-Tele Lens 2:03 Testing out the Med-Tele Zoom 3:55 Testing out the 2x Zoom with D-Log and Active Track 4:32 Pros and Cons of the Med-Tele Zoom 6:22 This firmware promises a bright future. 7:10 Will I be using this new feature? About This Video

In this video I’m breaking down DJI’s new “Med-Tele” feature on the Osmo Pocket 3 that just dropped in a firmware update. Basically, DJI takes the built-in 20mm lens and digitally zooms it to give you a 40mm look. I was honestly hyped to test it… until I realized right away there’s no Med-Tele option in D-Log. For the way I shoot (D-Log, 4K 60fps, and then I convert 60 back to 24 for that cinematic slow motion), that’s a big deal. I ran real-world tests: walking shots, selfie mode (which is way too tight at 40mm), parallax moves, and a comparison at a basketball court. The 40mm can look great in normal color, and the depth of field/background separation surprised me, but you’ll also notice more digital artifacts and a punchier, contrasty look that I’m not always a fan of. The other big downside is you lose ActiveTrack in Med-Tele, which matters a lot when I’m filming solo. I end by explaining who this feature is actually for, why the firmware still feels like a step in the right direction, and why I’ll personally keep leaning on the native 20mm for the best quality.
