In this Reggae Sunday session, I’m building a chill reggae demo for my band Aloha Radio, and I’m showing you the easiest way to use Scaler 2 to find chords from literally any sample. I start with a sample where I honestly don’t know the chords, then I drop in Scaler Audio, drag-and-drop the sample, and boom—Scaler pulls the chord options right out. From there I confirm the progression by playing on top, then I drag those chords into my project so we can start cooking. Next I turn those chords into proper reggae skanks: short, staccato hits on the 2 and 4. Then we get into my favorite part—the bubble. I clean up the voicing so it doesn’t get muddy, move the rhythm to the right spot, and add swing using Ableton’s Groove Pool so the whole thing feels right. I also show a quick workflow tip: holding Command to adjust note lengths off-grid for that super-staccato bubble. After that, I add a simple bassline (using the chord info Scaler gave me), lay down some guitar ideas, and start arranging with fills, a riser, and a dubby moment using filter delay automation. It’s a solid starting point for a real song, and it’s all about getting to the vibe fast—bangers only. Aloha always.
