I start the session vibing, then I build the beat from the bottom up: bass first (quantized to 16ths), then a quick drum groove with a little swing so it starts bouncing. After that, I open up Scaler, set the vibe in C major, hit that bind button, and let Scaler basically tell me what chords I should be playing—super clutch when you want to stay creative and not get stuck. From there I spice it up: I test regular chords, then jump into 7ths and 9ths (“too caliente?”) and mess with voicings until it feels right. Once the chord bed is laid, I start stacking textures—piano, a mallet layer (after the “hearing test” sound, lol), and then I bring in the guitar to get that sticky rhythm. And yeah… I couldn’t help myself—I layered vocals with a little auto-tune (don’t tell nobody), tossed in some dubby lasers, and basically kept layering until it sounded like a fresh radio-ready reggae idea.
