What’s up everybody—welcome back to another Reggae Sunday. In this one I’m in Ableton Live building a fat reggae idea from scratch, and of course we’re jumping right into Scaler 2 because that’s what we do here. I show you a super musical workflow using Scaler 2’s “Bind” feature, so you can trigger chords from your keyboard (or a controller like Push) like an MPC instead of just drawing MIDI. I pull a progression from the Songs section, move it into E minor, record it in, and then clean it up fast with quantize and a quick grid check—especially important when there’s no beat yet. After that I lay down a simple drum loop, duplicate tracks for easier mixing, add hats, and give it a little groove/swing so it starts to bounce. I also do a quick EQ roll-off on the chord layer to leave room for the bass—because the bass is gonna do most of that low-end work. Then the special guest comes out: the Kala U-Bass. I’m telling you, this tiny thing is surprisingly fat AF. I track an 8-bar bass line, nudge it to the grid (streaming latency is real), and then I grab guitar, add a clean rhythm, and of course a little wah—because you know that’s my thing.
