What’s good my party people—welcome back to another Free Plugin Tuesday. In this one I’m testing a really dope free guitar amp plugin: Blue Cat Free Amp. I’m a guitarist too, so I had to do one for my guitar players. I’m running it inside Ableton and building a quick little banger around it, using Scaler 2 for the chords so we’re not guessing—we’re cooking with intention. I start with a simple beat at 135 BPM (yeah, typical stuff I like to mess with) and then I pull a chord progression from Scaler 2—J-Pop 6—and use MIDI capture to drag those chords into my bass, keeping only the bass notes so it follows the progression with that gritty low-end. Then I throw Blue Cat Free Amp on the guitar and flip through presets like Classic Clean, Modern Drive, and Boosted Lead. The big takeaway: it’s got everything you need right out the gate—clean, crunch, distortion—and you can just shuffle presets and get to vibing fast. I also point out some handy stuff like meters, window opacity (wild), and even MIDI program change so you can switch sounds from Ableton.
