Aloha Gang! In this one I jump back into Ableton on a Friday (yeah, I never do that) and we build a reggae remix using my new fave plugin: Scaler 2. I start with an acapella and a simple beat in Session View, then move it into Arrangement View so we can treat that loop like a metronome and build the whole banger off it. The key move is dropping my chords into Scaler’s custom progression section and binding them to my MIDI controller, so I can play the chords like an MPC—super fast, super musical, and it keeps me in the vibe instead of hunting notes all day. From there I lay the reggae foundation: tight skank chords on the 2 and 4, then I MIDI-capture the chord performance and duplicate it for the classic bubble organ underneath. I keep everything looping so I can drag sections out, then I add guitar parts (including a “sticky” tone), percussion fills like timbale hits, and start “massaging” the vocal timing so it locks to the groove. We even tempo-nudge around 116–118 BPM until it sits right. Once the arrangement is feeling right, I fatten the keys, pan parts, add a few effects, and get it sounding like a proper reggae remix—bangers only. Aloha always.
