About This Video

In this video I’m taking a proper hands-on look at the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo (the multicolour unit) and why everyone’s talking about it. There’s definitely going to be some disappointment for anyone who owned the original Carbon 1 and hoped it would be upgraded to multicolour, but once I got into the specs and the physical changes, I can see why Elegoo went with a whole new machine. In the UK it’s looking around the £400 mark, which for a multicolour CoreXY setup is pretty damn good. I go through the unboxing, what you actually get in the box, and the setup. It didn’t take that long, but there are a couple of quirks—like the multicolour feed install where I had to remove a cable to reach a screw (not mentioned in the instructions). I cover the key upgrades: 350°C nozzle (up from 320°C), improved cooling and rear grill design, a bigger 5-inch touchscreen that’s way easier for Wi‑Fi entry, and the Elegoo “Canvas” side unit with RFID that makes loading filament settings dead simple. Print-wise, I’ve had no multicolour failures so far—everything came out crisp and clean, including long Nostalgic 3D prints and a two-colour Hueforge. My biggest bug bear is still purge waste (especially on big colour transitions), but the print quality has genuinely impressed me.
