About This Video

In this review I put the Creality (Pi-Create) HALOT X1 Combo through its paces, covering the initial setup, key specs, and what you actually get with the AFU unit. I walk through the 16K mono LCD, the reversed motion system (the vat moves up instead of the build plate going down), the 92-point intelligent exposure, and that quick-release/twist build plate system. I also show real prints and timelapses, including the included USB test model, a calibration print, and a Nostalgic 3D Pikachu in Sunlu clear red. Print quality is genuinely impressive—super crisp detail, no obvious layer lines at 0.05, and the twist-release plate is a big win because it reduces the need for scraping (and gouging) your plate. The AFU’s RFID and bottle weighing/resin-runout protection are great ideas too, especially if you’ve ever come back to a half-finished print because the resin ran out. My biggest con is heating. The printer itself doesn’t have a heated vat, and in UK winter temps (I was testing around minus 1°C) I had repeated failures unless I warmed the resin externally. The AFU claims to heat, but I found it pumped before reaching the set temperature and filling was slow—so if you’re printing in a cold space, factor in a warmer room or aftermarket heating.
