In this video I take a proper look at the WELOCK Smart Lock U81 and run through exactly what you get, how it installs, and how the different access methods work in the real world. I’ve reviewed a WELOCK lock before, but this U81 is a clear step up for me because it gives you multiple ways to get in: fingerprint, RFID card, keypad code, and—importantly—a physical key as a backup. I unbox everything, show the covers/silicone “sock” options (I swapped the blue for the more discreet black), and go over the hardware like the battery compartment and the included extras. I then power it up with 4x AAA batteries (not included), do the initial setup, change the default passcode, and add users. I show how to register fingerprint and RFID, including the little gotcha I hit—RFID needs to be presented at the front/keypad area, not up by the fingerprint reader. Finally, I fit it to my studio door, bind it in the app using the unique ID on the barrel, and demonstrate how the app can track access events and show battery status. For my 3D printing business, having that control and audit trail is exactly the sort of practical security upgrade I actually care about.
