In this video I’m taking a proper hands-on look at the AlgoLaser DIY Kit MK2 (10W) and building it up from the box. I’ve reviewed a fair few DIY diode laser kits on the channel, so I wanted to see how this one measures up against other 10W machines I’ve tested. The build was genuinely straightforward and even with me filming it only took around 15 minutes, and the frame feels nice and sturdy. I also go over the safety and control bits I always want to see on a laser—emergency stop, lock/unlock key, limit switches for homing, and the usual reminders: don’t leave a laser running unattended. The big standout for me is the built-in touchscreen UI (Algo OS / graphics engine). It’s intuitive, responsive, and packed with presets and material suggestions, plus Wi‑Fi capability and app support. I updated the firmware via USB and show how the on-screen controls handle movement, speeds, and settings, including options for adding an air pump and enclosure controls. Then I run a bunch of real projects—engraving and cutting across plywood (2–3mm), cardboard/paper, scratch paper, and the included metal cards—so you can see what it actually does in the real world. Final takeaway: the MK2 is a very user-friendly DIY kit, but if you’re buying it, I’d strongly recommend selecting the honeycomb bed and air assist because they make a big difference, especially for cutting.
