About This Video

In this video I unbox and do a quick hands-on review of the Acmer P2 33W diode laser, and the big question is simple: can it really be “ready in 10 minutes”? Acmer claim it can, and honestly, they’re not far off. The frame is basically pre-assembled, so my job was removing the transport brackets, sliding the laser module into the guides, connecting the air assist tube and power, doing a bit of cable management, and plugging in the power brick. From start to finish the setup was around 5–10 minutes, and it’s genuinely simple—ideal if you’re new to lasers. After the overview, I jump straight into real tests using the supplied materials (which I really like they include). I ran LightBurn settings from the included guide card, did a 2mm plywood cut test (around 800–1200 speed at 70–100% was cutting), then pushed 7mm birch ply and managed a one-pass cut at 300 speed and 100% power—very impressive for a diode. I also tested stainless steel colour marking (the power/speed grid came out amazing), engraved an aluminium business card at 15,000 speed, cut 3mm black acrylic cleanly at 200 speed/100% power, and engraved a slate coaster at 9,000/100% with air assist. Overall, it feels premium, performs exactly like the spec sheet says, and it’s genuinely one of the standout lasers I’ve used on the channel.
