In this video I unbox and take my first proper look at the AlgoLaser Pixi 5W smart laser engraver with enclosure. I go through what you actually get in the box (test materials like acrylic and cards, a cleaning brush, USB-C cables, a USB-C to USB-A adapter, the focal gauge tool, smoke pipe and flange, and the UK power brick) and then I walk around the machine itself. The big headline here is how “ready to go” it feels—there’s very little setup, which is going to suit novices and intermediate users who just want to get engraving quickly without faffing about. I also spend time on the Pixi’s standout features: the touchscreen (you can genuinely run jobs without a laptop), the safety-focused enclosure with an interlocked cantilever door, and the built-in extraction port that smaller machines often miss. I show the ports and controls on the back (power, USB-C, and the AR/rotary port), plus the adjustable height for things like bottles. On the screen I demo writing directly, loading built-in SD card projects, selecting the correct laser power (3W/5W/10W options), motion modes for a rotary, and the built-in self-tests like vibration detection. Finally, I explain why I’m really sold on the reversible bed: one side for engraving and a honeycomb side for cutting, and it bolts down so your workpiece doesn’t shift.
