About This Video

In this follow-up on the Acmer P2 33W laser, I’m not rehashing the full machine review (I’ve already done that video and a written article with settings and projects). This time I’m focusing on the two things that make an open diode laser far more usable in a real workspace: the Acmer enclosure and the Acmer air filtration/extraction unit. I show a quick build timelapse of the enclosure (it’s genuinely straightforward with clear instructions), and I run through the main features like the two viewing panels, zipped access, and how I’ve routed cables. I also added my own LED light inside the enclosure just to improve visibility while I’m working. I then demonstrate the extraction performance in a way you can actually see—first with the filtration off so you can see the smoke build up, then switching it to full power so you can watch it pull the smoke back out (even with the front panel open). On the cut side, I’m using LightBurn and cutting 4mm birch ply; my successful run was 350mm/min at 100% power, and it came out clean with minimal scorching thanks to the air assist and extraction. I also open up the filtration unit so you can see the filters and debris inside, and why I rate this particular model as one of the better, more versatile setups I’ve used over the last few months.
