About This Video

In this video, I’m unboxing and testing the Wyze Palm Lock—one of the most interesting smart deadbolts I’ve tried because you can unlock your door with just your palm. No key required, no fingerprint sensor to touch. I walk you through what’s in the box, the overall build quality, and the key features like palm vein recognition (recommended scan distance is about 3–7 inches), backlit keypad, Wi‑Fi built-in for app control, and the dual-battery setup with USB‑C emergency power. I also show what installation is like on a standard residential door. For me, it took around 25–30 minutes with a screwdriver (and maybe a drill if your door holes don’t line up). After setup in the Wyze app, I tested palm unlock, keypad codes (including anti-peep code), mechanical key backup, and the auto-lock feature that uses a built-in gyroscope to lock when the door closes. My real-world take: palm unlock is super convenient—especially when your hands are full of groceries—and the feature set is strong for the price. The biggest “but” is the keyhole: it’s great for emergencies, but it can also feel like it defeats the purpose of fully keyless entry and could be a concern for some people. Overall, I rated it 8.5/10 for 2025/early 2026, with great features and value, and slightly reduced security score because of the keyhole.
