About This Video

In this video, I unbox the brand-new Google Pixel 9a in the Obsidian color and give you my real first impressions after using it for a couple of days. The packaging is super slim and fully paper-based (Google even calls out the plastic-free packaging), and inside you get the phone plus a SIM ejector tool. As soon as I picked the phone up, the first thing I noticed was how light it feels, and honestly it feels premium in the hand—even though Google says the back is plastic, it doesn’t feel “plasticky” to me. I go over the design and buttons (and yes, the power/volume placement is confusing if you’re coming from Samsung), plus the 6.3-inch OLED display with 60–120Hz refresh rate and very high brightness. Then I jump into cameras: dual rear (48MP wide + 13MP ultrawide with up to 8x Super Res Zoom) and a 13MP selfie camera that looks really sharp. I also show quick editing tools like Magic Eraser (needs updates/Wi‑Fi) and filters, and I test zoom on text to show how readable it stays. Finally, I walk through setup and data transfer, including how smoothly eSIM transfer can happen without calling your carrier, and why I’d recommend the Pixel 9a as a solid, long-term phone with 7 years of updates.
