About This Video

Welcome back everyone—this is Lee, and in this video I’m doing an overview + quickstart setup for Dehancer Pro inside DaVinci Resolve. Dehancer reached out to me for this evaluation, but like always, all opinions are my own. I break down what Dehancer actually is (a film simulator backed by 30+ years of experience), where it’s available (Resolve, Final Cut, Premiere/After Effects, plus Photoshop/Lightroom/Capture One), and what you’re really paying for when you’re choosing between individual OFX tools vs Dehancer Light vs Dehancer Pro. I also walk you through my basic setup inside Resolve: update Resolve first (seriously—older versions can give you a white screen), install Dehancer, then in the plugin I scroll down to “check profiles” to update, hit “disable all tools,” and start from the top with Input Source. For this example I’m using Panasonic GH5 footage, selecting my camera in “choose camera,” then dialing exposure/temperature/tint before enabling Film (it’s off by default—don’t miss that). I also share a few honest cons: the Pro price can be steep, the film stock list inside the plugin isn’t categorized, and I wish the update/check profiles button was at the top. But overall, the experience with Dehancer Pro has been phenomenal—and if you want a real filmic look, it’s one I’d recommend.
