About This Video

What’s going on YouTube—this is Lee, and in this video I put the TTArtisan 10mm f/2 up against the Sony 11mm f/1.8 to see if the cheapest APS-C ultra-wide is actually the better buy. I’m testing these on my Nikon Zf using the Megadap adapter (and yes—TTArtisan sent the 10mm over, but all opinions are my own). The price gap is the big story: the Sony is about $548, and the TTArtisan is about $160, so you’ve got to decide if autofocus and that extra stop-ish of light is worth roughly $389. I break down build and handling (plastic AF Sony vs full-metal manual TTArtisan), hoods/caps, and then I run my usual image-quality tests: distortion, vignetting, flare/sunburst character, chromatic aberration, background blur, and sharpness across the frame. The TTArtisan surprised me with really minimal distortion and a more “character” sunburst flare, plus it gets very sharp around f/4—especially in the center. The Sony is the more consistent edge-to-edge sharp lens overall, and obviously autofocus is a major win. My takeaway: these are two different lenses for two different shooters. If you can manual focus and want to save money, the TTArtisan is a strong value. If you need reliable AF and better overall edge performance, the Sony is the move—just remember distortion/vignette may require software corrections, especially on cameras without lens profiles.
