About This Video

What’s going on YouTube—this is Lee, and in this video I’m breaking down the SHIMBOL TP MINI wireless transmitter/receiver kit and showing you exactly how I set it up on my camera and monitor. SHIMBOL did send this unit to me for evaluation, but as always, all opinions are my own. The whole point of the TP MINI is simple: it converts your monitor to wireless so you’re not stuck running an HDMI cable when you’re trying to view your screen. I walk through the physical layout (it’s pure aluminum and very straightforward), the ports (HDMI in on the TX, dual HDMI outs on the RX), the buttons (power, pairing), and power options (NP-F battery plate on the back, plus USB-C power). For my demo, I used the Viltrox DC-X3 monitor, but you can use whatever monitor you have—just plug in, power both units, pair them, and you’re basically done. Then I do real-world tests: latency is only a fraction of a second, so it’s very usable, and I check range room-to-room with multiple walls. At around 65 feet with about eight walls between, it starts to lag a little bit, and I also show how it behaves going downstairs. Finally, I run a heat test for an hour—temps hovered around the high 90s to about 100–102°F. Overall, it’s plug-and-play with no apps and no craziness—if the latency and heat are fine for your workflow, this is a solid option.
