What's going on YouTube—this is Lee, and in this video I’m going through my top accessories for the Leica Q, because I picked my Q up used and I wanted to upgrade a few key things right away. First up is the half case situation: the brown leather case that came with my camera actually looks nice, but it’s not my vibe on a black body—and more importantly, it doesn’t give you a usable tripod mount. The black Amazon case I show has the quarter-screw mount option, so it’s simply more practical if you ever want to run a plate. From there I get into the stuff that actually changes daily handling and reliability: Wasabi batteries (they’re lasting longer than my older OEM batteries), plus a thumb grip to make the Q feel way more secure in-hand while still letting me hit the shortcut keys. I also swap to a metal lens hood with a traditional cap, and I confirm you can still run a filter (I tested it with my B+W). Then I call out a big one: the OEM strap can scratch up your camera, so I prefer a strap that includes leather protection between the ring and the body. I finish with a screen protector install, and I even weigh lens caps (because you know me) and explain why I’d rather keep things low-key outdoors—even masking the Leica logo if I have to.
