Hey there. Bars open. In this video, I’m trying a Finnish beer—OLVI Export Lager—that my girlfriend brought back after a holiday up in the Arctic. I also share a quick Finland alcohol-buying fun fact: you can pretty much buy alcohol in the day, but after 9:00 p.m., you’re generally limited to “long drinks” (think beer or lighter cocktails) at 5% and below. Price-wise, this one surprised me too—about 3 to 4 euros a can, which works out to roughly 6 to 8 Singapore dollars for a 330ml can at 5.2% ABV. For the pour, I use a long glass and I pour a bit more haphazardly because I’d rather see the foam in the glass than in my stomach—less bloated, easier to enjoy the drink. Visually, it’s more orangey and heavier-looking than I expected for an export lager. On the nose, it’s pretty standard macro-brewery vibes, nothing crazy—but the taste is where it wins: malty with the right amount of hop bitterness, really well balanced. It ends up tasting heavy and strong, yet it’s still easy to go down the throat, and honestly… it’s really, really delicious.
