About This Video

Happy National Day, Singapore. In this video I review a Singapore Lager from Trouble Brewing, just to commemorate SG’s 60 years of independence with something local. The bottle literally says “damn good beer” and promises a clean, crisp, refreshing lager—so I put that claim to the test with my usual straight-up tasting notes. It’s a standard 330ml bottle at 4.5% ABV (a bit low for my liking), and it typically goes for around S$5. I pour it into an insulated beer mug (recommended by my friend Ian) because I want the foam in the glass, not in my stomach. Visually, it surprised me: slightly orangey and a bit cloudy—less “macro lager” and more craft-leaning. On the nose, there isn’t much going on, so I go straight to the sip. Taste-wise it’s very clean and very easy to drink, with minimal aftertaste—just a light malty coating. The interesting part is a light sourish note that makes it feel refreshing to some people, even though I wouldn’t personally call it “crisp.” It’s not the best Singapore beer I’ve had, but on National Day, a Singapore lager just feels right.
