Bars open—today I reviewed Jack Daniels Tennessee Apple with my girlfriend Belle. We first tried it at Cellar Fiesta and liked it so much we bought a bottle, but we also had a lot of alcohol that day, so I wanted a proper re-taste with fresh taste buds. In Singapore, we paid about $50 for a 700ml bottle at 35% ABV, which is honestly a bit disappointing on paper because it’s under 40%… but I remembered the flavour being that good. I tested it the way I test “whiskey” even if it’s flavoured: neat, with a splash of water, and on the rocks. On the nose, it’s a very strong green apple—like sour green apple tape/candy—with just a hint of that typical whiskey “nail polish remover” note, but the apple covers it really well. Neat, it’s super sweet, zero burn, and dangerously easy to drink, but it also has basically no finish. With water, it didn’t open up anything; it just got lighter, so for flavoured whiskey like this, I’d say don’t waste your time. On the rocks, it got even sweeter and the apple lingered more in my mouth—cold seems to remove the whiskey feel and leave the apple syrup vibe. If you want that lingering apple taste, go rocks; otherwise neat is already very comfortable.
