About This Video

Bars open. In this video, I’m reviewing HITE Extra Cold Ice Point, a Korean beer I spotted at a Korean mart in town—and for some reason, this one just caught my eye. It’s a 500ml bottle at about S$7.90, sitting at 4.5% ABV, and I served it the way I like: straight out of the fridge into a frosty, icy mug. I also pour a bit more hazardly because I want the foam in the glass, not in my stomach—less bloated, more beer enjoyment. In the glass, it’s very pale and light, to the point where it can look almost translucent at certain angles. On the nose, it doesn’t come across sweet; it smells a bit rough and honestly smells stronger than it looks. But once I tasted it, it surprised me—in a good way. It glided down my throat, with a bit of malt and a malty, slightly sticky aftertaste, barely any bitterness, and not much sweetness. Compared to standard HITE Extra Cold (which I’d usually mix with soju or pair with spicy food), Ice Point is one of the first Korean beers I’ve had that I’d happily drink on its own. If you come across it, buy it—and drop your tasting notes so we can compare.
