In this video I’m tackling a question I see online all the time: is Canon overpriced, or is Canon actually worth the money? Quick disclaimer—at the time of recording I’m a Canon Malaysia ambassador, so obviously I’ll have some bias. But I also want to be clear: I’m a photographer/filmmaker first, and I’ve stuck with Canon for very specific, practical reasons—not just because of a title. A big part of this conversation is “perceived value.” Something can be expensive without being overpriced, depending on what it gives you in return—kind of like how I see my MacBook Pro. For me, Canon’s value shows up in the stuff that matters when you shoot professionally: after-sales service (I’ve had a lens fixed in a week versus months with another brand), workflow speed from the way Canon files fit my editing style, and usability—touchscreen, intuitive menus, and cameras that just feel functional on real sets. On top of that, there’s the intrinsic side: confidence, ergonomics, and that tactile, locked-in feeling when I’m shooting. Canon isn’t perfect for everyone, but for the way I work, it earns its price.
