In this video I’m answering a simple question: what’s the best wireless earbuds you should buy—out of five options I’ve been testing side-by-side. I put the newer Soundpeats Air5 Pro+ up against the older Air5 Pro, the Air4 Pro, the Soundpeats H3, and the Creative Aurvana Ace 2. A big theme here is that “newer is better” is not always true, especially when companies swap in a new driver tech and the tuning ends up worse. The Air5 Pro+ has this new “XMEMS” driver that’s supposed to be fast and detailed, but to my ears it doesn’t beat the original Air5 Pro. The Pro+ comes off too bassy and the treble can get borderline annoying, which also pushes vocals back compared to the Air5 Pro. The Creative Aurvana Ace 2 does XMEMS a bit better, but the tuning is still way too bass-heavy for what I want. For pure sound quality though, the Soundpeats H3 is the one that made me re-evaluate everything. It’s basically a wireless IEM-style setup with multiple drivers, and it’s not even close: bigger soundstage, better depth, and way cleaner bass. It even has ANC and transparency, and while the Air5 Pro is a bit better on features, I’d still pick the H3 if sound is the priority.
