About This Video

In this video I reviewed the NUBWO HG04, a $50 gaming headset that’s actually wireless, which is kind of crazy when you look at how expensive the wireless headphone game has gotten lately. I go over the comfort and build first, because honestly the standout here is the ear pads. They feel like the soft, plush pads you’d get on $300 Bose or Sony headphones—super premium for the price—plus there’s decent top padding and enough swivel/pivot to sit comfortably on your head or around your neck. I also break down the connectivity: you get 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth, and you can switch between phone and PC. There’s onboard volume control, a built-in mute switch, and a detachable mic that sounds pretty decent for $50. For sound, the big strength is the tuning—because it’s a modern digital headset, the electronics/EQ are doing a lot of work and it ends up sounding natural with good bass, clear vocals, and treble that isn’t harsh. Wired mode works in a pinch, but since the headset isn’t powered on, you lose that tuning and it comes off bassier and less lively. For competitive FPS imaging it’s not the clearest, but for music and immersive/story games, it’s a really solid budget pick.
