Did you pull the Charizard Special Illustration Rare (SIR) in this Phantasmal Flames booster box?

Accepted Answer

Nope—unlucky for me, there was no SIR in this booster box. I did pull the Mega Charizard EX full art, which is nice, but it’s not the one I’m chasing. I’m still going until we pull that Mega Charizard SIR.

How many hits did you get from the Phantasmal Flames booster box?

I ended up with 15 hits out of 36 packs. Usually I expect around 13–14 hits in a normal booster box, so the overall hit count was actually pretty solid. The issue was just no SIR showing up.

Is Phantasmal Flames booster box mapping back-heavy for hits?

Accepted Answer

In my box, the hits were definitely back-heavy. Early on it felt slow, and I was worried about the hit rate, but the back half started stacking pulls. I didn’t shuffle the packs either, so it really came straight from the box layout.

What were your best pulls from the Phantasmal Flames booster box opening?

Accepted Answer

The biggest “okay, we’re cooking” pull was the Mega Charizard EX full art. I also liked seeing Mega Gengar EX and pulling multiple Illustration Rares like Togedemaru and Yamper. For deck building, pulling Dawn is always a win too.

What are the pull rates like in Phantasmal Flames compared to a normal Pokémon booster box?

From my experience here, 15 hits is above what I call the usual average of 13–14. That said, it felt streaky—slow at first and then a bunch of hits late. It’s a smaller set (94 cards before secret rares), so I was hoping for even more consistency.

Is Phantasmal Flames a good set for competitive play and deck building?

Yeah, it’s got a lot of playable stuff. I called out cards like Dawn, Wondrous Patch, and other solid pieces you actually want for builds. And Mega Heracross is supposed to go pretty crazy, especially with Meganium to swing for one energy.

Will you open more Phantasmal Flames products to keep hunting Charizard?

Absolutely—the Charizard hunt continues. I’m already thinking about another booster box if I can get it at MSRP, and I’ve got more Phantasmal Flames product coming in too. If we hit the SIR, then we’re basically opening for fun and buying singles to finish the master set.
