In this video I’m chatting through my low-spend year in fragrances and whether it was actually worth it. For me, “low spend” doesn’t mean no spend (that would be non impossible when you love perfume), it means being realistic: what do I genuinely want, how often do I want to buy, and what budget makes sense. I also talk about how, in the fragrance community, quantity can get glorified over quality, and how easy it is to fall into that comparison mindset. I break down exactly what I bought this year—five fragrances total—plus how much I spent on samples (over £100, and honestly worth it because it’s true try-before-you-buy). I also explain how gifted bottles have helped me spend less, and then I get into the finance side: my priorities (my biggest purchase was a used car, bought with cash), budgeting on Google Sheets, “sinking funds” using Monzo pots, and my little sealed piggy-bank hack for Christmas money. The biggest takeaway? Using cash and visuals keeps me accountable, keeps me within my means, and reminds me that even 5–10 bottles is a lot in real life.
