In Episode 1 of this multi-part series, we kick things off with Cinnamon Pass, explore the breathtaking beauty of American Basin, and take a step back in time at the well-preserved ghost town of Animas Forks. We wrap up the day by tackling the rocky terrain of Mineral Creek, with some fun and challenging obstacles along the way. From scenic views to off-road fun, this adventure has it all. About This Video

I’m back in the San Juan Mountains for a proper high-alpine overlanding run, and this one’s special because my parents and my brother’s crew joined us for the day. Episode 1 kicks off on Cinnamon Pass (part of the Alpine Loop) where we aired down and I disconnected the sway bar on my ZR2. I also showed a quick look at a prototype set of Level Up sway bar quick disconnects/links for the 3rd gen ZR2s—still not released yet, but I’ll have a full install video once they’re out. From there we detoured into American Basin for the views, then climbed back up Cinnamon Pass and even ran into a subscriber, Seth, who tagged along in his red Colorado ZR2. We stopped for lunch at Animas Forks and I walked through some of the town’s mining history and how it tied into the route between Silverton and Lake City. To wrap the day, we dropped into Mineral Creek—rocky, off-camber, and full of those “it doesn’t look bad on camera” moments where patience and tire placement matter. We finished by finding a dispersed camp near the base of Poughkeepsie Gulch, crossed a creek to get in, and set up for a shot at the wall the next morning.
