We’re back in Moab this time for the 2nd Annual ZR2 Red Rock Rally! Before the official event kicked off, we hit the trail with eight Chevy Colorado ZR2s and took on the always-fun and sometimes unforgiving Hell’s Roaring Rim. This trail has a little bit of everything: fast sandy sections where you can open it up, technical rock crawling, and epic views only Moab can deliver. But of course… it wouldn’t be a true adventure without some drama. My ZR2 decided to bring back the electrical gremlins, forcing an unexpected trail-side troubleshooting session and eventually a tow to the dealership. Whether you’re here for off-road tips, ZR2 content, Moab trails, or just the chaos and fun of wheeling with friends, you’re in the right place. About This Video

We’re back in Moab for the 2nd Annual ZR2 Red Rock Rally, and this is the pre-run where eight Chevy Colorado ZR2s hit Hell’s Roaring Rim together. Right out of the gate the trail smacks you with a sandy hill climb, and I talk through the simple rule that keeps you moving: stay committed to the throttle and keep your momentum. From there it’s classic Moab—step-ups that get progressively bigger, slow technical rock crawling, lockers when you need them, and plenty of moments where good spotting (and going slow) saves bumpers. After the rocks, the trail opens into a fast sandy section where you can finally stretch the truck’s legs a bit. Of course, that’s when my ZR2 decided to bring the electrical gremlins back—Christmas-tree dash, no 4WD, and then it wouldn’t even restart. We cleared codes and limped it off the trail, but a couple days later it was done for good and I ended up getting flat-towed back to Salt Lake City for another dealer visit. The dealer originally blamed a bad ECM, but that turned out to be a side effect, not the root cause—good news is the real problem has been found and the truck is 100% now, and I’ll break that down in a follow-up video.
