About This Video

If you’re looking at Age of Sigmar and asking “how crazy can these factions even get?”, Skaven are the answer. In this video I break down whether you should play Skaven in 4th edition: a bunch of raving mad ratmen who love science and absolutely refuse to do it safely. They’re one of the oldest factions in Warhammer (Fantasy into AoS), but 4th edition has also spoiled us with a bunch of brand new sculpts—so it’s a great time to be interested in the army. On the tabletop, I walk through the big questions: what Skaven actually do, what the core rules feel like, and what playstyles you can build toward. I cover Gnawholes (deep strike, teleporting, and recursion), key movement tricks like Always Three Clawsteps Ahead and Too Quick to Hit Hit, plus how the battle formations push different clan flavors (with that classic Skaven “malfunction, but the upside is juicy” vibe). Then I run through the range—named characters, the Verminlords, staples like Clanrats and Stormvermin, and the shooting toys like Warplock Jezzails and war machines—so you can figure out what you want to collect and how you might start. My big takeaway: Skaven rules reflect their lore better than most factions. You get mobility, bodies, recursion, and ridiculous war machine output… but you also have to be okay with randomness, fragility, and your own stuff occasionally exploding in your face.
