About This Video

My brother’s getting into Age of Sigmar, and his very first question was the same one I see from a ton of new players: “Where do I even build my first list?” So in this video I walk you through the beginner fundamentals—what tools you can use (official app vs free options like New Recruit, Listbot, and Scrollcaster), and then the actual rules of list building in AoS with real examples on Listbot. I break down how regiments work (up to five), how heroes “unlock” what units they can take, what reinforcing a unit actually does and why it matters for buffs and combat activations, and the extra stuff that can quietly cost points now—like manifestation lores (yep, Forbidden Power is 20 points). I also talk about drops and deployment: fewer regiments can help you finish deploying first and choose turn order, but current seasonal rules can reward having more regiments, so as a new player I really don’t want you stressing about it. After that, I get into the practical “what do I put in my army?” side with unit roles—hammers, anvils, and screens—and I show a sample Cities of Sigmar list I’m actively testing (and why I’m not jumping list-to-list). Biggest takeaway: don’t panic-buy models. Proxy, try stuff (even on Tabletop Simulator), play games, make mistakes, and you’ll learn what you actually like.
