Shooting a test roll through my Widelux F6 | VERY initial impressions and all 21 photos

The Widelux series of cameras are ones that I've been really interested in for a while now. I recently decided to pull the trigger and pick on up. In this video I formally introduce the camera, load it with a roll of film, shoot my test roll, and give my initial impressions of the camera.

About This Video

In this video I finally put a proper test roll through my Widelux F6 to make sure everything is actually functioning before I take it on a trip. Right out of the gate, I found a big issue: the 1/15th shutter speed is basically dead. It won’t fire unless I kind of coax it, so it’s pretty obvious the camera is dirty inside and needs a CLA at some point (the seller did give me a partial refund). For this roll, I stuck to the speeds that sounded healthy—1/50 and 1/125—and just focused on confirming the camera would advance, expose, and wind consistently. For film, I loaded up Fujifilm 400 because I’ve got a ton of it in my fridge and I never feel bad burning a roll for testing. I also show how I load the Widelux, including the little tab that made the whole process way faster once I figured it out. After shooting all 21 frames, I walk through the results and my very initial impressions: this camera is just insanely cool, super unique, and a blast to show people. The images weren’t meant to be “portfolio” shots, but I did get some fun swing-lens flare shooting into the sun—and my favorite frame ended up being a vertical shot. I developed the roll at home using the AGO film processor and the CineStill C-41 liquid kit, and I also talk about a future 3D-printed diopter idea to get more usable close focus on the fixed-focus Widelux.
