About This Video

In this video I’m talking about a winter camping trip my friends and I took in January to Arkansas. I live in Tennessee, they’re in Oklahoma, so Arkansas was the perfect halfway point. We rolled in Friday night, spent all day Saturday exploring, and headed out Sunday after breakfast. It was cold, it snowed on us, and we eventually bailed on the cave camping plan for night two because the lows were going to be in the single digits—and I’m not trying to freeze to death for the vibes. Gear-wise, I filmed the whole thing on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. For photos, I brought my Widelux F6 and shot a couple frames of Fujifilm 400 that was already loaded, then put two full rolls of Ilford XP2 through it. I also brought my Nikon Zf with the 28mm f/2.8 SE—freaking love this camera—but I didn’t shoot it as much as I wish I did. Most of my keepers came from a beautiful hiking trail where I leaned hard into those panoramic Widelux frames, and looking back, I really should’ve mixed in more digital because the scene was just unreal. The trip ends with diner coffee, good food, a dumb game called Flip Seven, and an “enchilada soda” mistake I’ll be thinking about for a while.
