I’ve been on a mission to find a camera or system that would allow me to capture the highest quality images on Instax film. I first started with an Instax Wide film back for large format cameras, an Instax Mini 8 in a random drawer in my house, and then finally, the Fujifilm Instax Link Wide. - Lomo'Instant Wide Glass Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZp7k04by4k - My Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/michaelbennettphoto/ My Website: https://www.michaelbennettphoto.com My Email: OfficialMichaelBennett@gmail.com - Gear I used in this video: Nikon ZF: https://amzn.to/48z057z DJI Osmo Pocket 3: https://amzn.to/43fdOxe Live AIR 3 Smart PD-BTMP-S: https://amzn.to/4hrUUId Epson V600: https://amzn.to/4kPzXcw Gitzo Tripod: https://amzn.to/4hJEawH Viltrox Monitor: https://amzn.to/3YXfWaR Aputure 120DII: https://amzn.to/4dVrLTt ZHIYUN CINEPEER CX100: https://amzn.to/3Xgr1D1 Zhiyun M20C RGB Light: https://amzn.to/4hpszSY Hollyland Lark M2: https://amzn.to/3WW5K11 Freewell V2 Magnetic VND & Snow Mist 1/4: https://amzn.to/4hRUc7b NiSi JetMag Pro Filter Kit: https://amzn.to/4guToUx - - - - - - - Lomography, Lomo'instant wide glass, Instant wide film camera, fujifilm instax film camera, instax mini, instax square, instax wide film, lomography instax instant film camera, fujifilm link, fujifilm instax link mini square wide

About This Video

I’ve been on a mission to find a camera or system that lets me get the highest quality images on Instax film, and in this video I finally put the Fujifilm Instax Link Wide to the test. I started this whole rabbit hole with a Lomography Instax Wide film back on a large format camera (awesome, but way too big to use casually), then I randomly found an Instax Mini 8 in a drawer and took it on a couple shoots. The Mini surprised me, but between the tiny film size, plastic optics, and basically no manual control, it’s not something I’m interested in using professionally. The reason I bought the Instax Link Wide was simple: I wanted to take a really high-quality digital photo and print it onto Instax Wide to get that instant film look—best of both worlds. The problem is the print quality. I break down the main issues I ran into: lack of sharpness/detail, limited dynamic range (it clips highlights and crushes shadows easily), and inconsistent output like streaking, banding, and weird color shifts—especially in saturated/dark colors. Add in the crunchy digital-looking noise, and for my use case, it just doesn’t cut it. I’m not saying it’s useless—if you want prints for gifts, your fridge, or a scrapbook, it can be totally fine. But if you’re trying to replace a dedicated analog instant camera like the Lomo’Instant Wide Glass, the Link Wide gets outshined pretty quickly.
