About This Video

In this video I give you my short, real-world review of the Leica M2—why it’s genuinely one of my favorite cameras I’ve ever owned, and also why I’m selling it. I’ve had my copy since July and I’ve put at least 18–20 rolls through it, including trips like Colorado, London/Scotland, and Nebraska. I’ll walk through what I love: the price (for an M body), the looks (one of the best-designed film cameras ever made), and—more than anything—the rangefinder shooting experience that, in my opinion, just doesn’t get matched by non‑Leica options. I also cover the stuff that annoys me, from least to most egregious: the 0.7m close-focus limitation, the slower “spool” film loading (totally learnable, just more of a two-hand/lap situation for me), and my biggest gripe—the film counter wheel. It works, but it’s way too easy to bump in a bag and throw your frame count completely out of whack. And of course, it’s fully mechanical with no built-in meter, so I either shoot Sunny 16 or use my Keks KM02. Finally, I explain the bittersweet part: Leica gear is expensive, and I’d rather free up roughly $2,000 to invest back into my photography/filmmaking/YouTube work. I love the M2, but for now it’s a “see you later,” not a forever goodbye.
