About This Video

Fujifilm 200 is a film stock I’d never shot before this video, and honestly it took me forever to get this one done—like the better part of six months—because I wanted to shoot three full rolls and show you every single frame. All the photos you’re seeing were shot on my Olympus OM-1 with a 24mm f/2.8 and a 55mm f/1.2. Before getting into the images, I also clear up the naming confusion: Fujifilm 200 (and Fujifilm 400) are Kodak-made films, and they’re not the same thing as Fujifilm C200 or Superia 400. The first roll was shot back when my wife and I lived in Denton, Texas—downtown square walks, familiar spots, and a few frames around our old house. The next two rolls were shot in Tennessee and they’re totally different: a super chill river day and then a waterfall hike where it was way darker under the trees than it looks in the photos. Even shooting a 200-speed film at f/2.8 or f/2 and down around 1/30th, the results really surprised me—especially the color. To me, Fuji 200 looks subtle but still saturated, super natural, with just a touch of warmth, and I honestly prefer it to the Kodak-made Fujifilm 400 I usually reach for. It’s cheap, it looks great, and based on these rolls, I really freaking dig it.
