About This Video

In this video I unbox and set up the AGO Film Processor from Vintage Visual, then I develop two rolls of 35mm C-41 color negative film at home using the CineStill C-41 kit. Full disclosure: I reached out to Vintage Visual to test this, and today is genuinely more of a “learn it as I go” first impressions than a full review. I’m also coming off a big move (my wife and I just moved across the country to a suburb of Nashville), so this is my first time developing 35mm at home in a long time—and I’m using some mystery rolls that have been sitting in my film fridge for years. The big takeaway is how simple the AGO makes the whole process. I used the default C-41 program, poured in chemicals, hit start, and let it do its thing—no babysitting, no manual inversions. The standout feature for me is the temperature probe and the way it automatically adjusts development time when your chemicals aren’t exactly at temp (mine were under 39°C, and it added time on the fly). I even walked out of the room during blix because the smell was giving me a headache, came back, and it was basically ready. This isn’t a cheap product, but if you’re serious about home developing and you want consistency plus flexibility (C-41 now, and I’m planning ECN-2, E-6, black and white, and eventually RA-4 handprinting), the AGO feels like a tool that’ll keep me shooting more film long-term.
