About This Video

Good morning, friends! In this cozy winter vlog, I’m sharing what a real cold-weather homeschool day looks like for our large family. Our house has a hard time keeping up on extra cold mornings (it’s been around 25 outside when we start the day), so we turned on our kerosene heater and did language arts together in the warmest spot in the house. We also had one sick kiddo home, which always changes the flow of the day, but we still kept moving forward with the ones who were feeling well. I also finally replaced my old KitchenAid after it started dying (and yes… I had the lovely experience of metal flakes ending up in Christmas whipped cream). I found a new-to-me one for half price at an auction and broke it in by making a double batch of our favorite double-chocolate protein balls—because with seven people, snacks disappear fast. I share an easy lunch idea too: steel cut oats with strawberries and bananas (I love it, but it takes about 50 minutes, so lunch works better than breakfast). To wrap up the day, I bundled up for a walk during a rest week from strength training, and I’m also sharing a little peek at our winter rhythms—big kids helping with dinner, balancing screen time with getting outside, and all of us enjoying the Winter Olympics together.
