How do you install the Cartrimhome wireless seat module on a 2020-2025 Toyota Highlander?

I pop off the plastic side panel on the passenger seat to access the factory plug going into the seat switch module. Then it’s basically plug-and-play: unplug the factory harness, plug the kit in as a piggyback, and plug everything back into the factory module. After that I mount the control module under the seat with the included Velcro and zip-tie the wiring so it won’t rattle.

With the remote/switch, I can move the passenger seat forward and backward, and I can also tilt the seatback forward and back. It’s super handy when you’re not sitting in the passenger seat but still need to reposition it. I tested it right after install and both the factory buttons and the new remote worked like normal.

Where is the best place to mount the remote switch for a Highlander passenger seat?

For my situation, I mounted it on the B-pillar right inside the rear passenger door. That way when I’m loading my son’s car seat, I can stand right there and bump the seat forward without walking around to the front. You could also mount it on the side of the seat, stash it in the glove box, or put it wherever works best for you.

The wiring part is honestly super easy—it’s just a plug-in piggyback harness. The hardest part is getting the seat plastics off because they’re way tighter than dash panels. You’ve gotta work the clips slowly, pull pretty hard in spots, and not get crazy and break anything.

Why would you want a remote passenger seat control in a Toyota Highlander?

My main reason is car seat loading—if the front passenger seat is too far back, the rear car seat won’t clip in. Instead of walking around, moving the seat, then coming back, I can just hit the switch from the rear door and it’s done. It’s also useful if the passenger seat is blocking your mirror/blind spot or if you’ve got people getting in the back and need more room.

The first time, you may need to hold the button down so it syncs with the module. I mention that in the video because if you just tap it and nothing happens, it can make you think something’s wrong. Hold it, let it pair, and then it should start moving the seat like it’s supposed to.

How do you prevent rattles and pinched wires under the Highlander seat?

I zip-tie the harness up so the wires are bundled and not bouncing around while driving. I also route the wiring under the correct clip and through an open area so it won’t get pinched when the panel goes back on. Taking an extra minute here saves you from an annoying rattle later.
