About This Video

What’s up, guys? In this video I’m back on the 4th Gen Toyota Highlander (2020–2025) doing one of those quick interior mods that makes a bigger difference than you’d think. Car Trim Home sent me their carbon fiber-style shift knob upgrade, and the whole goal was to make it match the carbon fiber steering wheel I installed a couple videos back. The factory shifter is totally fine, but this one adds a more premium look with a little “diamond” top, a lit-up Highlander logo, and small ambient lighting strips on the sides. I walk you through the full install step-by-step, including how to power the lights using the included piggyback harness at the 12V outlet under the center console trim. Tools are basic: needle-nose pliers, a flathead screwdriver, and maybe a plastic trim tool. The hardest part is just popping the console panel up without fighting it. Once it’s in, I test reverse/neutral/drive to make sure the wiring isn’t binding, then I show you what it looks like in the dark with my other ambient mods (cup holder lights and door handle lights). My only real “OCD” complaint is I wish you could lock the color to match the rest of the interior, but overall it feels solid like OEM and it’s an easy, satisfying upgrade.
