About This Video

Holy crap… this mod is so freaking sick. In this video I’m installing a Kustom Interiors carbon fiber steering wheel on my C7 Corvette, and I walk you through the whole thing step by step so you can do it at home. I show the wheel up close (full carbon, leather, carbon hand inserts, white center stripe, and matching white stitching), and they even sent a carbon center bezel piece so you don’t have that factory silver trim anymore. Fitment on everything was super solid—buttons sit in there clean with no big gaps, and it legit gives the interior that supercar look and feel. I start with safety stuff first: disconnect the battery in the trunk with a 10mm so the airbag doesn’t go off, and on a C7 you’ve gotta roll the window down because the doors are electronic. I also show you the manual door release lever in case your battery ever dies. From there I pop the airbag using the two access holes on the sides, unplug the airbag connectors, remove the wheel with a T50 (torque spec is 22 ft-lb going back on), and transfer over the buttons, paddle shifters, and wiring with a T20. I also use blue Loctite on the center bolt and do a pull-test on every connector before I snap the airbag back in.
