About This Video

In Part 2 of this Highlander steering wheel series, I’m finishing the install on the CarTrimHome heated carbon fiber steering wheel for the 2020-2025 Toyota Highlander—specifically showing you how to make the heated function work when your SUV didn’t come with a factory heated wheel (like my XLE). The big missing piece is the new clock spring CarTrimHome sent me, which adds the extra plug you need to get power to the heating element without running wires that would tangle up while the wheel turns. I walk you through the safe way to do it: disconnect the battery (10mm), pull the airbag using the side access doors and the spring clips, unplug the connectors, and remove the steering wheel while marking alignment so you don’t end up a “tooth” off. Then I swap the clock spring, explain how to keep it centered, and button up the column plastics. After that, I install the heated steering wheel switch panel, tap accessory and constant power at the fuse box (dome + hazard), use a factory ground, and route/zip-tie everything so the wheel can still telescope and tilt freely. Once it’s all together, it heats up fast—within 15–20 seconds I could feel it, and I’m pumped to really use it this winter.
