About This Video

What’s up guys—we’re back on the 2020-2025 Toyota Highlander and I’m finally installing something I’ve been wanting for a while: the CarTrimHome carbon fiber heated steering wheel. Our factory wheel was peeling down at the bottom (I’m pretty sure all the hand sanitizer during the “Co time” dried the leather out), so this is a huge upgrade already. On top of that, I’ve wrapped a few things in carbon fiber on this Highlander, so the wheel really helps the interior match the theme we’ve been going for. In Part 1, I walk you through the full step-by-step on how to safely remove the factory wheel and airbag (disconnect the battery first), pop the side covers, release the airbag springs, unplug the connectors, and pull the wheel. Then I show you how I transferred all the factory buttons and trim over to the new wheel, and got everything bolted back up. Fitment was honestly pretty dang good. The “special feature” is the heating element—our XLE didn’t come with a heated steering wheel—so this is kind of a beta test on the newer Highlanders. I’m making a separate Part 2 video to get the heated function working cleanly and make it easier for you guys if you want to do the same mod.
