About This Video

What’s up guys—we’re back on the 2020-2024 Highlander again, and in this video I’m doing a full step-by-step install and review of the CarTrimHome Heads Up Display (HUD). My Highlander is an XLE, so it doesn’t come with a factory HUD like the Platinum (and maybe Limited) trims, and this kit is a really nice option if you want that feature without doing anything crazy to the dash. What I like right off the bat is the packaging, that it comes with the tools, and most importantly it’s plug-and-play using factory Toyota-style harnesses—no wire cutting, no splicing. The install is straightforward: you pull the steering column trim (3 screws), pop the factory tweeter cover, loosen the tweeter with a 10mm, and fish the harness down behind the cluster to the plug you’ll piggyback with the supplied pigtail. The “hardest” part is honestly just fishing the wire and then taking your time zip-tying everything up so it looks professional and doesn’t interfere with steering wheel movement. Once it’s in, it looks super factory, reads speed and RPM, and it’s easy to see at night and even during the day—my windshield is tinted and I can still see it fine (the camera just doesn’t pick it up great).
