About This Video

In this video I review the Fosi Audio ZH3, and yeah—I still think it’s a very underrated product from a very underrated brand. I skip the full unboxing (the box is huge), but I go straight into build and I/O: it’s all-metal, hefty, and pretty big. Up front you get 6.35mm, 4.4 balanced, a screen, and a clickable volume knob for the menu, plus a remote (which I actually used because the screen brightness is way too bright out of the box for my eyes). On the back you’ve got balanced and single-ended outputs, RCA in, coaxial, optical, USB in, DC 12V, and a trigger port if you’re stacking with other Fosi gear. For specs, it’s AK4493SEQ DAC, OPA1612, and XMOS XU316, with rated power up to 2.5W balanced @ 32 ohms and 640mW single-ended @ 32 ohms. Sound-wise, I tested with HD650, M2X, Truthear Gate, and a bunch of sub-$300 IEMs across J-pop, prog, EDM, metal, jazz, and rap (Apple Music + YouTube Music). With the default filter (I didn’t touch filters or the bass/treble EQ), the ZH3 sounds natural and slightly mid-forward, with a really dynamic presentation. The craziest part is how it made my Truthear Gate go from slightly thin/anaemic to grand, organic, full, and even holographic—at $199 USD, this is genuinely a steal.
