About This Video

In this video I reviewed the Dunu DN142, and yeah… this IEM “blue” my mind. Big thanks to HiFiGo for sending it in, but as always, everything you hear is 100% my own opinion. I went through the unboxing (the box is padded like crazy), the accessories (sturdy case, cleaning brush, multiple tips, and Dunu’s modular cable system), and the build/comfort. The shell is medical-grade resin, the faceplate looks really nice, and it’s chunky but still comfortable. My only real nitpick is the color choice—this one is aggressively blue, and I know not everyone wants that on their ears. For sound, I tested it with the stock gray tips (not the Dunu S&S), Fiio QX13, my Poco M6 Pro, and Apple Music across J-pop, EDM, rap, metal, and jazz. The DN142 is tuned close to Harman, with a noticeable focus around 12.5k, and it reminds me a lot of the Kiwi Ears Astral: hyperdetailed, clean, and extended. Bass is rounded with speed, punch, and body (not a basshead set—more “Harman bass”). Mids are mellow but more forward than Astral, with zero shout and very natural timbre. Technically, for $250, the stage/layering/imaging and separation are straight-up spectacular—honestly extreme value, to the point where I called it a steal.
