About This Video

In this video I review the Sivga M300, a really nice looking earbud made from metal and African ebony wood. Sivga sent it over, but this is still 100% my own opinion. I go through the unboxing (plain box, but you do get a case, manual, and foams) and then talk about build/comfort. The cable is non-removable, but the quality is good and I don’t get annoying microphonics. My main wish is simple: if it’s going to be fixed, at least give us a modular termination, because you’re stuck with 3.5mm single-ended. Sound-wise, my first impression is the reason for the title: the M300 comes off neutral-warm and “HD600-ish” in tonality—rolled sub-bass, slightly rolled treble, forward mids, and it can get borderline shouty depending on fit. Bass on earbuds is always hit-or-miss for me because it’s fit dependent, but the included donut foams make it easily fixable and the bass ends up satisfying with good agility (double pedal metal works well). The midrange is the star: forward, cozy, and with a really natural timbre—zero metallic—so vocals sound superb, like a portable HD600 series in earbud form. Technicalities are decent for ~65 USD: medium stage, solid layering, 2.5D imaging, good enough separation/positioning for gaming, and detail retrieval that’s fair for the price.
